Nuenen: The Van Gogh family lived here from 1882 to 1886, Vincent from December 1883 to the end of 1885. The parsonage was built in 1764 by the civil municipality, which was then still obliged to provide housing for the reformed pastor. Vincent painted both the front and rear facades once and drew once. And numerous drawings and paintings were made from this garden including the old tower on the horizon.
Opposite the former rectory in Nuenen is the Van Gogh Village Museum. The permanent exhibition in this museum is about Nuenen life at that time, the hard farm life, how Vincent became a farmer painter, the creation of The Potato Eaters, Vincent's painter friends, and the Van Gogh family.
