The world's most sustainable destination

North Brabant hosts the world's most sustainable destination: Van Van Gogh Nationaal Park

Van Gogh Nationaal Park won 1st place there in the Destination Management category of the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards 2026, awarded by an international jury of Green Destinations experts. This was announced during ITB in Berlin, the world's largest tourism trade fair. This makes Brabant one of the global leaders in sustainable tourism and destination management. The award was received by Van Gogh Nationaal Park and Brabant Partners.

This award shows what is possible when nature, heritage, tourism and regional partners work together to create a sustainable destination. As Van Gogh Sites Foundation , we are proud to contribute to keeping alive the story of the Brabant landscape that inspired Vincent van Gogh.

Hiking starter

The prize was awarded for the WandelStarter project, an initiative of Brabant Partners. The project was set up within Van Gogh National Park and rolled out from there throughout Brabant. With WandelStarter you can easily find your ideal starting point for a walk in Brabant. At all starting points there are signposted walking routes with a length of up to 10 km. Every starting point has route information and parking facilities. Select a starting point and get on your way!
