Salon van Gogh 2026

Salon van Gogh

On March 30, Vincent van Gogh's birthday, Salon Van Gogh once again brought together key players from Brabant's business, government, cultural and nature sectors. The cultural networking event took place at het Noordbrabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch and was organized by the Van Gogh Sites Foundation, Van Gogh Nationaal Park and Van Gogh Homeland.

Van Gogh Lecture: The Art of Silence

Under the title "The Art of Silence," Prof. Dr. Margriet Sitskoorn delivered the Van Gogh lecture. She showed how our brains develop in relation to our environment, and how this determines how we experience art. Art and architecture can help us become silent for a moment and reconnect with ourselves and the world around us.

Margriet Sitskoorn explained: "We carry the entire history of our environmental past with us in our brains and therefore in our perception and aesthetic appreciation. This explains why we react to and interact with art and architecture in a certain way. If we properly understand the interaction between brain and environment, we can provoke silence within ourselves with art and architecture and reconnect with the world."

Salon Van Gogh demonstrates the powerful connection between heritage, nature and mental well-being and sets the tone for further deepening and collaboration. The next edition will take place on March 30, 2027.
